Photography Business Name Generator
Give it one word you would actually say out loud. It builds twelve names at a time from eight naming techniques and tells you which technique made each one.

Type one word above, choose what you shoot, then press Generate. Click any name to copy it.
Pick the name you can say once. Most photographers choose on how a name looks in a logo, then spend years spelling it down the phone, in DMs and on invoices. Two short common words — a light quality plus a place, a surname plus a noun — survive being heard. Invented spellings survive being seen and nothing else, which is exactly why their domains are still free.
Domain links go to our registrar partner. We may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
Is a generated name safe to use?
The generator does not check anything for you. Before you commit, search your national trade mark register, check the exact spelling on Instagram and your local company register, and run a web search with the name in quotation marks. A name with a free .com can still be taken as a trading name two suburbs away.
Does the .com have to match the name exactly?
Take the exact .com if it is free. Clients type what they hear. If it is gone, change the name instead of adding hyphens, numbers or the word photo on the end, because you will pay for that every time you read your address down a phone line.
Should I trade under my own name?
Your own name works for portrait, wedding and editorial work, where the client is hiring you specifically. It works against you if you plan to bring in second shooters, sell the business later, or rank for a service term. A surname plus one short noun keeps both routes open.
How many names should I shortlist?
Generate about forty, then cut to five by saying each one out loud as a phone greeting. Anything you have to spell twice, or that needs a second try, gets deleted. Sleep on the last five and check the spelling again in the morning.
