Type a keyword above, pick your trade, then press Generate. Names you have already seen will not repeat while this page stays open.

Say every shortlisted name out loud as a voicemail greeting, then write it on a mock invoice. Handyman work is won on the phone and by referral, so the name has to survive being spelled to a stranger on a bad signal and read off a van door at 40 mph — which rules out clever spellings, hyphens, and any word people can spell two ways. Two things most guides skip: a name starting with A or B still helps you in directory listings and roundups that sort alphabetically, and a name that locks you into one trade, like Dave's Drywall, quietly costs you the gutter, deck and fence jobs you would otherwise be offered.

How do I check if a handyman business name is already taken?

Run three checks before you commit. Search your state or county business registry for the legal name, search the USPTO trademark database for anything close in the same class, then search the name plus your city in a plain web search. A free domain proves nothing on its own — a handyman two towns over can hold the name where it actually matters.

Should I put my own last name in the business name?

Use it if it is short and easy to spell over the phone, because a surname signals a real person and travels well by word of mouth. Skip it if you plan to hire a crew or sell the business later, since a name built around one person makes both of those harder.

Do I need the .com if I only work in one town?

You do not need a one-word .com. A longer .com that includes your trade and your town is usually still available and works just as well for a local business. What matters more is that the domain matches the name on your van, your invoices and your Google Business Profile, because a mismatch costs you calls.

Can I change the name later if I outgrow it?

Yes, but it costs more than most people expect. A rename means new registration filings, new signage and vehicle lettering, a new domain, and rebuilding the reviews and local search rankings attached to the old name. Pick something that still fits after you add a second truck.
